ØTHERLANDS is scripted in typical rhizome structure. Each video or text called a 'node' can be added, inserted, updated or edited and hyperconnected to another node or 'nodes'. A node can have several preceding nodes or 'parents' and several following nodes or 'children'. Using php1.0 and msql (mysql was not available yet) this DATABASE-DRIVEN hypercinema is perhaps the earliest elaborate example of cultural uses of database code outside of core mail, news and chat Internet modes. THE EQUATOR users could also add nodes or 'scenes' co-creating this collaborative hypermovie, and a chatbot was present on the site built from this and other text.
