The Obvious Illusion slides
The
Cooper Union NY show
The fall of 1981 Dr. David Burnett curated the established Canadian large-format black-and-white 'sculptural' photographer, Bob Bourdeau, and myself, with smaller, highly-charged, hard-edged, 'painterly' color images from New York for a show together at the museum in Toronto. I was 25. The images published, unfortunately in black and white, in the German political and cultural magazine Juni include some square images made on New York's Lower East Side in 1981. The Obvious Illusion body of work contains approx. 90+ Cibachrome prints, mainly 8x10 in., some 16x20in. made from Kodachrome slides and 10+ from 6x6 Ektachromes, printed 11x11 in. along with an archive of printable material comrpising almost 4 years of photography amounts to probably 1200+ images in all.
